Optosky’s Malaysia Trip: Successful Product POC Validation, Customer Visits and Demonstrations
From October 27 to 28, 2026, a team from Optosky (China Optosky Photonics Co., Ltd.) visited Malaysia for two days of product POC validation, customer visits and product demonstrations with local public security and border and maritime law enforcement agencies.
01 Overview
During the trip, the team visited and held discussions with three organizations:
• Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA)
• Malaysia’s central public security authority
• Malaysian security forces’ detection and reconnaissance agency
Over the two days, we demonstrated Optosky’s handheld and portable detection equipment across real operational scenarios, including drug and explosive identification, hazardous chemical detection, drug screening, and border and maritime patrol. We also carried out on-site POC validation and gathered requirements and feedback from frontline users in real working environments.
02 Products Demonstrated and Validated
1. Handheld Raman Identifiers
• ATR6500 Handheld Raman Drug and Explosive Identifier (785 nm): Designed for rapid on-site identification of drugs, explosives and other substances. Well suited for law enforcement officers at border checkpoints, patrol sites and similar settings.
• ATR6600 Handheld Raman Drug and Hazardous Chemical Identifier (1064 nm): Uses a 1064 nm excitation wavelength to help reduce fluorescence interference, making it suitable for on-site detection of drugs and hazardous chemicals.
2. Drug Testing Equipment
• GA500 Series: Includes a portable hair drug tester and an intelligent hair trace drug analyzer for detecting and analyzing drugs in hair samples.
• GA510 Series Handheld Urine Drug Tester: Enables quick on-site urine drug screening.
3. UAV Hyperspectral Systems (ATH9030 / ATH9010)
The UAV hyperspectral solution is a collaborative effort:
• Hardware: Provided by Optosky
• Software functions: Provided by aiSPEK (teams from USM, Malaysia, and Singapore)
The system targets the following applications:
• Search, apprehension and rescue (SAR) systems
• Border and maritime security patrol systems
• Environmental and water quality monitoring
Combining hyperspectral imaging with UAV platforms allows coverage of large areas of land, coastal waters and other bodies of water, offering new technical tools for search and rescue, patrol and environmental monitoring.
03 Next Step: Customers Invited to Our Changsha R&D Base
On November 2, 2026, customers and partners from Malaysia will visit Optosky’s Changsha R&D base for a tour and a training and demonstration session. We will introduce our R&D and manufacturing capabilities and arrange hands-on equipment training and demonstrations, helping users gain a deeper understanding of product performance and operation.
04 Closing
We sincerely thank all the Malaysian organizations for their hospitality and support, and our partners at aiSPEK (USM and Singapore) for their collaboration. Optosky will continue to build on spectroscopy technology to provide reliable detection and analysis solutions for public security, border and maritime law enforcement, and environmental monitoring worldwide.
