Optosky Photonics Inc (referred to as “Optosky”) was founded in 2015. Headquartered in the beautiful coastal city of Xiamen, the company is a national-level “Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative” key “Little Giant” enterprise specializing in the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of high-end spectral analysis instruments. The company was established by Dr. Liu Hongfei, an international spectroscopy instrument expert (Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, National Ten Thousand Talents Program Leading Talent, Ministry of Science and Technology Innovation Talent Promotion Plan, Xiamen Double Hundred Talent Plan Class A, Ph.D. graduate from Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Postdoctoral fellow at Xiamen University). Committed to developing internationally leading spectral analysis instruments, Optosky aims to become a world-leading provider of spectroscopy instruments and has grown into a leading enterprise in China’s spectroscopy instrument sector. Leveraging its unique expertise in opto-mechatronics integration, spectral analysis, weak photoelectric signal processing, and cloud computing, Optosky has built a comprehensive product portfolio, with Raman spectroscopy as its flagship product. The product line also includes fiber optic spectrometers, hyperspectral imagers, field spectrometers, infrared spectrometers, fluorescence spectrometers, spectrophotometers, LIBS, and more. These products are widely used in scientific research, semiconductors, new energy, biomedicine, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, public safety, smart agriculture, military, and other fields. Both in terms of products and brand, Optosky ranks among the world’s top players. The company’s products are sold to over 70 countries and regions globally. It has become the leading Chinese brand for optical instruments in the Russian market, a top-three brand for high-end optical instruments in the Middle East, and one of the fastest-growing Chinese brands in the European and American markets. Optosky's logo is a perfect representation of the company's ethos and the journey of its founder, Dr. Hongfei Liu. The initial letter 'O' symbolizes Optosky, with its rotation embodying vitality, grace, progress, and radiance. The upper half of the logo is orange, representing passion and innovation, while the lower half is blue, signifying stability and reliability. Emerging Prominence (2016-2017)
In June 2016, the team, through countless sleepless nights, successfully participated in drafting the national standard for Raman spectrometers, becoming a key contributor. This achievement not only established the company’s industry foundation but also motivated the entire team.
In October 2016, the company received a major industrialization grant from the State Oceanic Administration, totaling 30 million RMB, significantly boosting their R&D efforts. During this period, Optosky expanded its product line to include fiber optic spectrometers, marking a new technological breakthrough.
In April 2017, Dr. Liu was named a "Startup Hero" by CCTV, highlighting his innovative spirit and relentless effort, inspiring many in the industry.
In May 2017, the team successfully developed the ATR6500, the first handheld Raman spectrometer in China, and won the "Independent Innovation Gold Award." This product quickly captured market share, earning customer trust.
In August 2017, they achieved another significant breakthrough by developing the ATR8300, China’s first confocal Raman microscope, leading in global performance and capturing a larger market share.
Technological Innovation and Breakthroughs (2018-2019)
In September 2018, the ATR6500 won the "Technological Innovation Award."
In November 2018, the company won the Excellent Enterprise Award in the National Finals of the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. That year, the company expanded its product line to include field spectrometers, further strengthening its market position.
In January 2019, the company successfully developed the ATR6600, the first 1064nm handheld Raman spectrometer in China, filling a domestic market gap and winning a bronze medal at the World New Materials Environmental Entrepreneurship Competition National Finals.
Leading the Industry (2020-2021)
In April 2020, Dr. Liu was recognized as an innovative talent by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Innovation Talent Promotion Plan.
In September 2020, the company developed the ATR6600Pro, setting a new world record. The company also expanded its product line to include hyperspectral imaging instruments, further advancing its technological capabilities.
In October 2020, the company developed the world’s smallest Raman spectrometer, the ATR1600, gaining significant market attention and orders. In March 2021, the ATR1600 was named the Annual Excellent New Product, the only Raman spectrometer to receive this honor.
In March 2021, Dr. Liu was recognized as a Category B High-Level Talent in Fujian Province. In June 2021, Dr. Liu was selected for the "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" by the Central Organization Department, recognizing his outstanding research achievements and leadership.
In July 2021, the company was recognized as a Fujian Science and Technology Giant and successfully developed the ATR8800, a confocal Raman microscope that broke foreign monopolies and filled a domestic gap.
In October 2021, Optosky received a project grant from the Xiamen Oceanic Administration, totaling 45.76 million RMB, further enhancing their R&D capabilities. In December 2021, the company received the Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, recognizing their excellence in scientific innovation.
Expansion and Future Prospects (2022 to present)
In July 2022, the company led the formulation of the national industry standard for visible near-infrared ground-based spectrometers, solidifying its leadership in the industry.
In September 2022, the company was named a "Fujian Torch Gazelle Enterprise," an important recognition of its rapid growth and significant potential.
In September 2022, the second headquarters in Changsha was officially established, marking further business expansion and development. The company also set up offices in Beijing, Changchun, Jinan, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Nanjing, expanding its business coverage. Both Xiamen and Changsha serve as headquarters and major R&D centers. Additionally, the company established R&D centers in Xuzhou, Wuhan, and Wuhu, further enhancing its research and technical capabilities. Meanwhile, the product lines were expanded to include fluorescence spectrometers and ultra-micro spectrophotometers, enriching the product portfolio.
Optosky has grown substantially since its inception. With a total area exceeding 13,000 square meters, the company boasts an ultra-clean room of 685 square meters. The workforce comprises over 300 employees, including more than 150 R&D engineers. The company consistently invests over 30% of its resources into research and development, ensuring continuous innovation and advancement.
