    Raman Application in Diesel Detection
Raman scattering refers to the fact that when a laser of a certain frequency is irradiated onto the surface of a material, the molecules in the material transfer energy with photons, causing the frequency of the scattered light to change. This change in frequency depends on the characteristics of the scattering material, so the type and properties of the material can be identified by analyzing the spectrum of the scattered light. As the global demand for energy continues to grow, diesel, as one of the important fuels, its quality testing becomes particularly important. Traditional diesel testing methods such as chemical analysis and physical property testing, although effective, but often time-consuming and costly. In recent years, Raman spectroscopy technology, as a rapid and non-destructive detection method, has shown great application potential in diesel detection.

Diesel quality testing usually includes multiple indicators such as density, viscosity, sulfur content, cetane number, flash point, etc. These indicators are directly related to the combustion performance, environmental performance and service life of diesel. Traditional diesel testing methods such as chemical analysis and physical property testing are effective, but they are often time-consuming and costly. In recent years, Raman spectroscopy has been applied in the fields of petroleum and chemical industry in combination with chemometric methods. The ATR7000 produced by Optosky measured the cetane number, density and condensation point of diesel at a Russian customer and obtained good results.

    1. Sample modeling
The customer uses the ATR7000 online Raman spectrometer to collect the light of diesel, verifies the true value through physical and chemical analysis, and then builds a model.

    2. Sample test data
The customer collected data for us to build the model, and then collected 8 samples of data for us to verify the model. When we compared the data analysis value with them, the results we obtained satisfied the customer.

As shown above, Optosky ATR7000 achieved good results in predicting diesel cetane number, density and other parameters.
Customers also gave good feedback that they were satisfied with the equipment during the usage.

As shown above, the Russian customer is satisfied with the results of our ATR7000 online Raman measurement and has other project procurement needs in the future.

    3. Summary

ATR7000 online Raman can detect parameters such as the cetane number in diesel. The detection is non-destructive, fast and convenient. Optosky can customize the excitation wavelength, fiber length, immersion probe, data transmission method and other contents according to customer needs. Optosky will continue to work hard to help the petrochemical detection industry.
