With the development of food industry, a variety of ingredients and food processing enrich our life, and people pursue food variety which promotes the development of this industry. With the development of society economic and industry, we see typical food safety incidents such as "toxic milk powder", "gutter oil", and "toxic cowpeas" caused by hidden illegal processing activities and "industry rules" behind some delicious food. Food safety problem not only relates to the development of economic, and also social stability. The food regulatory authorities are an important line of defense to ensure food safety for people, but they also face many difficulties and challenges in the regulatory process, such as lack of cooperation among personnel, inconvenient operation, outdated testing technology and equipment, etc. Therefore, it is particularly important to achieve fast, sensitive and reliable food safety testing.
At present, the main methods for food safety detection include high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and other methods. Although these detection methods have high sensitivity and accuracy, they are time-consuming, labor-intensive, expensive, and have strict requirements for sample purification, making it difficult to achieve rapid qualitative screening. Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a new type of chemical analysis and detection method that is receiving increasing attention from people.
Raman spectroscopy is a spectrum that can characterize the vibrational energy levels of molecules, with extremely high molecular specificity. However, its scattering intensity is weak and it is susceptible to fluorescence interference. SERS technology is fast, sensitive, and non-destructive, with characteristics such as molecular fingerprint specificity and single-molecule sensitivity. It can provide rich information on material structure at the molecular level and has gradually become a powerful detection method in fields such as chemistry, biology, environment, and food. When target molecules are adsorbed onto certain rough metal surfaces, their Raman scattering intensity will be enhanced by 104-1014 times compared to conventional Raman scattering.
Optosky ATR3000FD Portable Raman Food Safety Analyzer
ATR3000FD is the latest high-performance and cost-effective portable Raman food safety detection system launched by Optosky Company. The whole machine is less than 8kg, with a smaller volume and lighter weight, making ATR3000FD very convenient to use and carry. It allows you to easily complete food safety testing in various places such as laboratories, rapid inspection rooms, and testing vehicles, making it widely used in market supervision and management, public security food, medicine, and environmental investigation departments. ATR3000FD is easy to operate with Chinese fully automatic recognition software, displaying operation steps and auxiliary videos, one click unlocking, displaying results, uploading data, and equipped with Raman spectroscopy. Based on powerful enhanced database and cloud computing processing technology, online detection only takes a few seconds.
Test subjects: chili noodles, millet, fish
Test purpose: Whether different samples contain illegal additives or veterinary drug residues (detecting Sudan Red 1 in chili noodles, alkaline tender yellow in millet, and malachite green in fish)
    Testing Method Process and Results:
Turn on the switch of the instrument and the tablet switch, ensuring that the connecting wires on the tablet are not loose. Open the food detection software on the desktop as shown in the figure below, and you can choose to log in to the cloud. If you are not connected to the network, you can choose to log in offline. Cloud login has more detection items.
After logging in, select Raman as the detection method, and select the substance category based on the sample category, including veterinary drug residues, pesticide residues, weight loss health foods, and more.
Taking the detection of chili powder as an example, select the category of non edible chemicals, click to select the Sudan Red No. 1 item in the detection of chili powder, and detection interface displays basic information and operation steps. At the same time, you can view operation help and video guidance. After the pre-treatment is completed, put the detection bottle into the detection pool, click on cloud detection, and after a few seconds, the result will be displayed: detected or not detected. At the same time, you can view the spectrum, thermal printing, etc.
After detection, data and PDF format detection reports can be exported from historical records through a USB flash drive.
Summary: By using the ATR3000FD portable Raman food safety detector to detect several types of food, it can be seen that the application of enhanced Raman technology in food detection has great advantages. After comparing the spectrum library, it can quickly identify whether food has been illegally added. Therefore, the ATR3000FD portable Raman food safety detector of Optosky can achieve very good results in food detection.
