NIR absorption is very suitable for the analysis of transparent or light-colored polymers, and it is quite fast and reliable. For some common waste plastics (such as PE, PP, PVC, PS, ABS, PET, PC, PA, PU, etc.) The NIR spectra are all different and easy to identify, as shown in the figure.
In the NIR spectral range (wavenumber is 14300-4000cm-1, wavelength is 750-2500nm), for samples with large volume and long optical path (such as plastic bottles), the spectrum can also be accurately recorded, which is useful for identifying waste plastics. Important practical significance. The C-H, O-H, N-H and C-O bands in the NIR spectrum can be used to identify most commonly used plastics. For example, the NIR spectrum of HDPE shows a characteristic peak near 1200 nm, but PET does not have this characteristic peak, and the absorption peak of PVC here is also very small. But PET in the range of 2100-2200nm shows three characteristic peaks.
